The Pictures Project celebrates the intersection of visual and musical arts by commissioning four new musical pictures based on existing works of art and new works of art in response to music by Mussorgsky and Vivaldi.

THE MUSIC
Vivaldi: Concerto for Two Cellos in g minor

Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition (orch. Tuschmalov)
Some movements to be played on Organ by Christopher Morgan Loy

Four new "musical pictures" by local composers based on existing works by area astists will be added to the composition.

About the Orchestra

The Ithaca Community Orchestra was founded in 2000 by composer and conductor John Webber and in 2005 Cayenna Ponchione was engaged as the new music director. The ICO presents concerts for the general public, plays at community events, and is dedicated to performing at local residential institutions such as nursing homes. The orchestra gives avocational string players the opportunity to be part of a large ensemble and gives avocational wind players an opportunity to play the orchestral literature. more...

Rehearsal Information

The ICO meets every Wednesday during the school year from 7:00-9:30 p.m. at the Cayuga Ridge retirement center on Route 96 near the Cayuga Medical Center. All instrumentalist are encouraged to enquire as we have openings in winds, brass, strings and percussion. For more information email cayenna@cayennaponchione.com.
